So I've been back and forth with the idea of sharing my experience with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) ... well more so the fact that I actually have PCOS, but after the numerous amount of women confided in me about their PCOS experience and shared their excitement about the relief they got as a result of using my juices, my reluctance obviously went flying through the window. They've encouraged me to share my story and the reason I do what I do. I was diagnosed with PCOS in 2015 and had been ignorantly struggling with the problems associated with it for years prior. PCOS causes insulin resistance, which causes problems in a woman's cycle and other body functions. This disruption leads to elevated levels of estrogen, progesterone as well as testosterone and other androgen hormones. Women with PCOS can experience higher body weights, difficulty losing weight, hirsutism, painful cystic acne , brittle hair, mood swings, fatigue, heavy periods, irregular periods and more. For me it has been a little hirsutism, the painful cystic acne, irregular and in the latter years painful periods and some pretty serious mood swings. If left untreated, women with PCOS run the risk of infertility and a higher risk of diabetes. There's no known cure for PCOS and the effectiveness of prescribed treatments varies by woman....but diet remains a staple.
